Struggle Jennings

Struggle Jennings is a country rapper whose songs sit between outlaw country and southern hip hop, written and delivered in the same voice either way. The singing is rough-edged and unpolished, a rasp that carries plain-spoken verses about hardship, regret and trying to get right. Production has shifted over time from stripped, rap-leaning beats toward full country arrangements, but the writing has stayed constant: first-person storytelling, plain language, and a redemption thread running through most of it.

He built the catalogue release by release, using Monte Carlo to test how far he could take his singing, El Camino to push it further, and later records to settle into country proper. Alongside those he has kept a long-running collaborative album series going, and he works long hours in the studio between tours. The songs are made for the road, chorus-forward and easy to sing back, and the audience for them wants country with rap's bluntness left in.
