About
Go, Dog. Go! turns a picture book into an hour of organised chaos, in which a company of dogs drive, swim, quarrel over a hat and work their way toward a party in a tree. Nothing is explained. Everything is demonstrated.
The dogs are red, blue, green and yellow, and they are extremely busy. Two of them keep meeting on the road so that one can ask whether the other likes her hat, and the answer is always no. Cars are built and crashed, a wheel is assembled, and the whole company runs on the logic of a two-year-old with a plan. The show is bilingual throughout: English and Spanish sit side by side in the dialogue and the songs, neither one translating the other.
Allison Gregory and Steven Dietz adapted P.D. Eastman's 1961 book, with music by Michael Koerner and Spanish by Ana Maria Campoy, and it had its first production in 2025. It is written for six performers who play everything, and it takes the book's own method seriously: the point is not to add a story but to perform the one already there, at volume, for an audience whose attention has to be earned every ninety seconds.
