Miracle of Christmas

Miracle of Christmas stages the nativity at full scale: a young couple travelling under a census order, an occupying power squeezing the province for taxes, nowhere left to stop for the night, and a birth in a stable that the production treats as the hinge of everything that follows.

Mary and Joseph make the journey knowing roughly what it will cost them. Shepherds are interrupted at work by an announcement they are not equipped to understand. Three travellers arrive late, following a star, carrying gifts that are no use to a baby. The show builds all of it physically - vast sets that run down the sides of the auditorium as well as across the stage, live animals, and a sung score that sets traditional carols alongside original music.

The singing is performed live and the staging is deliberately spectacular rather than intimate: the nativity told at large-format scale, with the audience surrounded rather than seated in front of a picture frame. It is built for families, and it lands best with anyone who wants the story delivered plainly, at volume, and without irony.
