About
TVBOO makes dubstep with a deliberately warped sense of humour, built on wonky, heavily modulated bass patches and saw-wave synths. The sound design is the signature: thick sweeps, textures that wobble rather than sit still, and drops that lurch instead of landing cleanly. A southern streak runs through it, and so does a fondness for comic samples dropped into otherwise punishing tracks, which keeps the music from taking its own weight too seriously.
He built the catalogue through EPs and singles across the heavy-bass underground before the debut album Blue Collar Bass, a fifteen-track set written in a concentrated five-month stretch and stacked with guests and vocal features. He has described that period as the freest he has felt making music, and the record's breadth reflects it, moving between straight-ahead heaviness and stranger, more playful ideas without changing the underlying palette.
That mix is what the live work runs on. The heavy material does what heavy material does, and the comic samples give the sets their character, so the tone swings between menacing and ridiculous without either cancelling out the other. It is aimed at listeners who follow bass music closely enough to hear the sound design, and equally at anyone who simply wants the low end. The humour is the part that makes it stick.
