About
Joshua follows a reluctant successor handed an impossible job: lead a people across a river and into a land already occupied by somebody else, with nothing to go on but a promise. The stage musical takes the biblical account and builds it out at scale, with an original score and the crossing, the siege and the fall of the walls all staged in front of the audience.
Moses is gone and Joshua has to become the leader he was told he would be. Alongside him the show follows Rahab, a woman with no standing and a compromised past, who shelters two spies and gambles everything on a God she has only heard about. The two stories run together: one man learning to lead, one woman deciding to believe, and a city wall standing between them and everything that comes after.
It is an original musical, developed over roughly four years and first performed in 2026. The score leans towards gospel, with substantial ensemble writing, and the piece was built around a handful of technically ambitious sequences: a river held back, a fall of quail, a wall that comes down on cue.
Expect spectacle. Large ensemble scenes and big practical effects carry the storytelling, and the design is engineered to deliver the same moments reliably at every performance. Underneath the scale, the through-line is mercy rather than conquest — the piece is most interested in the outsider who is spared, and in what courage costs the person asked to show it.
It suits audiences who want scripture staged as event theatre, families included, and it works best live, where the size of the stage picture is the whole point.
