Breaking Benjamin

Breaking Benjamin builds songs around a heavy, downtuned guitar riff and a melody strong enough to survive it. Benjamin Burnley sings them in a clipped, clenched delivery that turns choruses into something a room can shout back at the stage.

The writing sits where post-grunge meets metal: verses kept tight and percussive, choruses opened out wide, harmony vocals stacked underneath to give the hooks weight. The band has never been coy about that construction, and it is what has kept the songs in circulation across a catalogue reaching back to the early 2000s. Personnel around Burnley has turned over repeatedly, and there was a long enforced pause before the group came back, but the shape of the songs has stayed remarkably constant through all of it.

The appeal is directness. There is no puzzle to solve in a Breaking Benjamin song: the riff arrives, the chorus lands, and the band trusts that to be enough.
