Red Bike

Red Bike is a play about an 11-year-old child who takes a bike ride that inspires a fresh awareness of the neighborhood they live in and their place within it. It is set in a modern-day, unnamed American town in economic decline. Staging the play in the midst of a community that is itself going through economic shifts gives the whole event a very meta quality.

Remember when you were eleven years old and you had a bike, one that made you dream about a world bigger than the one in which you live? This is that memory. Except it is now. Red Bike explores the possibilities the world has to offer from the eyes of an 11-year-old’s adventures on their Red Bike!

A beautiful stream of consciousness which captures both the wonder of childhood and the wisdom of age. RED BIKE is a fantastic piece for both actors and directors, its story providing a significant amount of creative leeway to ensure that any production has its own unique voice.
