Ikons of Rock

Ikons of Rock is a costumed classic-rock tribute production in which one band works through a series of impersonations rather than covering a single artist. The performers take the stage in character, in wigs, makeup and full stage costume, and change between acts across the set, so the show moves through an era rather than through one discography.

The repertoire is the arena rock of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, played live by a five-piece of guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and voices, with the portrayals taking in acts including KISS, Alice Cooper, Van Halen, Joan Jett, Heart and Ozzy Osbourne. Darren Moore created the production and fronts it, and several other shows run under the same banner. The musicians behind it also record together and have released a studio album of original material.

What separates this from a straight covers set is the theatre of it: the quick changes, the visual accuracy, the commitment to playing each act as that act rather than as itself. It suits an audience that came for the songs of that era and is happy to see them delivered as staged spectacle rather than as a straight concert.
