Sister Nancy

Sister Nancy (Ophlin Russell-Myers) is a Jamaican dancehall DJ and singer, widely credited as the first female dancehall deejay and a dominant female voice in the genre for decades. She is best known for her 1982 track “Bam Bam,” a reggae and dancehall anthem built on the “Stalag 17” riddim that has become one of the most sampled and reinterpreted Jamaican songs in hip‑hop, pop, and electronic music worldwide.
