Youth Lagoon

Trevor Powers, known by his stage name Youth Lagoon, was an American musician and songwriter. Hailing from Boise, Idaho, Powers gained recognition for his introspective and atmospheric music. His musical journey began in his bedroom, where he started experimenting with electronic sounds and crafting deeply personal songs.

In 2011, Youth Lagoon released his debut album, "The Year of Hibernation," to critical acclaim. The album's dreamy, lo-fi soundscapes and vulnerable lyrics struck a chord with listeners. It was praised for its intimate exploration of themes like anxiety, isolation, and self-discovery. The success of the album catapulted Youth Lagoon into the indie music scene.

Powers continued to evolve his sound in subsequent albums, such as "Wondrous Bughouse" (2013) and "Savage Hills Ballroom" (2015). His music showcased a blend of electronic and organic instrumentation, creating a unique sonic landscape. With each release, Powers delved deeper into his emotional world, touching upon themes of mental health and personal growth.

Despite his rising success, Youth Lagoon announced his decision to retire the project in 2016. Powers expressed the need for artistic growth and exploration outside the confines of the Youth Lagoon moniker. While his time as Youth Lagoon was relatively short-lived, Trevor Powers left an indelible mark on the indie music scene with his introspective songwriting and ethereal soundscapes.
