Michael Franti is known for his active political and social position, even taking part in a large number of music projects, he continued to relay his sociopolitical views and thoughts, including "Beatnigs" and "Disposable Heroes of the Hiphoprise. He is the creator and lead vocalist of his current independent project Michael Franti & Spearhead, a band that mixes hip-hop with a variety of other styles, including funk, reggae, jazz, folk and rock, with this versatility, the artist seems to break down different genre barriers and each time it is different, making fans follow the personal development of this personality. He is also an outspoken supporter of a wide range of peace and social justice issues, and especially for peace in the Middle East.
