Viet Thanh Nguyen is a renowned Vietnamese-American writer, born in Ban Me Thuot, Vietnam, in 1971. He is a critically acclaimed author, scholar, and professor, best known for his powerful and thought-provoking works centered around the experiences of Vietnamese refugees and immigrants in the United States. Nguyen's family fled Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975, and this personal history deeply influences his writing, giving it an intimate and authentic perspective.

In 2015, Viet Thanh Nguyen achieved widespread recognition with his debut novel, "The Sympathizer."
