Walk The Moon

Walk the Moon (stylized spelling is "WALK THE MOON") is an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio. The band's genre includes elements of pop and indie rock with new wave elements.

The band's leader, Nicholas Petrikka, put the band together in 2008 as a student at Kenyon College. In 2010, after changing several members, the band acquired musicians still playing today: Kevin Ray, Sean Vaughaman, Eli Maiman.

The band's name is taken from the song "Walking on the Moon" from The Police's second studio album Reggatta de Blanc. Having self-released their debut LP I Want! I Want! in November 2010, the band hit the rotation of several alternative radio stations with the single "Anna Sun."

In February 2011, Walk the Moon signed with RCA Records and released their first major label album in June 2012, entitled Walk the Moon.

The album contained most of the re-recorded tracks from I Want! I Want! as well as several new songs. In December 2014, a second studio album was released on RCA Records called Talking is Hard.

The album includes the band's most successful song to date, "Shut Up and Dance," which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped the Billboard Alternative Songs and Billboard Rock Songs charts.
