Skrillex is the stage name of Sonny John Moore, a Los Angeles–born DJ, producer, singer, and songwriter who helped push dubstep and heavy bass music into the global mainstream in the early 2010s. After first gaining fame as the lead vocalist of post‑hardcore band From First to Last, he went solo and released landmark EDM records like the Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and Bangarang EPs and the album Recess, later returning with the 2023 albums Quest for Fire and Don’t Get Too Close while also scoring big crossover hits such as “Where Are Ü Now” as part of Jack Ü with Diplo.
